Meet our 2021 Summer Interns!
Summer 2021 here at Northstar Church is well underway. From gearing up for KidsCamp and our Youth Retreat, to getting comfortable in our new building, we are running at full speed. What you often do not see is the countless hours of work behind the scenes by no other than our fabulous interns.
This summer, we are blessed to have 6 incredible interns working here, assisting in almost every area possible. Get to know them a little better below:
From left to right:
Matt List: Matt was born in California and spent a year there before moving to Fredericksburg, VA where he was raised until he went to college. Matt is a student at Virginia Tech, studying Data Science while nurturing a passion for Astronomy (not Astrology) in his Minor studies. In high school, he was involved in the Marching Band where he played the saxophone, and he carries that passion for music with him onto the worship stage every so often on Sundays.
Kevin Rhea: Kevin was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Iowa State in 2019 and is currently pursuing his Masters of Divinity at Liberty University. Kevin enjoys drinking coffee, reading, and playing disc golf. This summer Kevin has been working on the Discipleship Initiative and helping out with youth and college ministries.
Sam and Sidney Noble: Sam and Sidney are in Blacksburg for the summer as they are in the middle of a job transition from Charlotte North Carolina to Winchester Virginia for Young Life. Sam is on full time staff, and his wife Sidney volunteers while also working as a full time high school teacher. They met in college at UNC Charlotte and both have a heart for Youth. This summer, Sam and Sidney will be helping with Northstar’s Youth Group, and Sidney will be assisting with our social media and photography.
Amy Simpson: Amy was born in Fairfield, Pennsylvania, a little town just outside Gettysburg and in 2013 my family relocated to Virginia. She is the seventh of eight children, and she enjoys being an aunt to my four nieces and nephews (and another one coming January 2022!)
As an intern, Amy will be assisting with children's ministry and Stephen Ministry.When not Interning at Northstar, she is an instructor at Westover Ballet School and hopes to continue dancing through college and possibly even explore musical theater!
Joy Simonton: Joy is 19 years old and was born in New Hampshire but moved to Virginia about 5 years ago. She is currently enrolled at New River Community College obtaining her associates in general studies and plans to further her photography business. Joy is apart of the creative content team here at Northstar, where she will be overseeing photography, videography, graphics, social media. A fun fact about Joy is that her favorite movie is Barnyard!
We are so grateful for the passion and skills that each of these interns bring to the Northstar family and we hope that you get to know them and love them as much as we do!
