Home Away From Home is an initiative in which
Northstar members invite college students into their homes to share a meal, wisdom, and a laugh or two. What this looks like practically is completely up to the families & students. In the past, families have opened up their homes to students to study, play with their kids, and to have some impromptu discipleship, in addition to the typical monthly meal. The heart of Home Away From Home is for us as the church to invite students into our lives, to encourage them, to share life with them, and ultimately to
point them towards Christ by our love and hospitality. There is no curriculum, this isn't something that is necessarily structured like the Discipleship and Small Group initiatives, this is simply doing life together. Our heart for this initiative is expressed in Paul's words to the Thessalonian church "We cared so much for you that we were pleased to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own lives, because you had become dear to us" (1 Thess. 2:8)
