Meet the team.

Emily Simpson

Volunteer Lead
I am married to my sweetheart Matthew, have a rambunctious (😅😩) puppy named Hazel, and work full time in the field of child advocacy. I started attending Northstar in 2010, and after a 2 year break, returned in 2015. When I came back, I was in desperate need of a solid community of women. I joined a Northstar GAP ladies small group and experienced acceptance, vulnerability, encouragement, and the clear comfort and love of God in a way that I had never experienced before.

Over the last few years, I have been blessed to be a part of the GAP group, but felt a yearning to truly know and be known by women outside of my “graduate and young professionals” demographic. I felt the need to help connect women of all ages and stages. After conversations with church staff, we were given the okay to develop a women’s ministry at Northstar!

My hope is that women will know that they are loved and are never alone, regardless of what they’ve done, where they’re at, or what they struggle with. This is a community of ladies that will love with the love of Jesus, encourage you in your walk with the Lord, and be authentic in relationships. If you’d ever like to grab coffee, go on a walk, or just chat, you can reach me at emily@northstarfamily.org. You belong here!

Carri Drake

I grew up in eastern PA. I have traveled around most of my life. Either traveling for competitions as a young girl in love with the sport of gymnastics or chasing my other love, Josh Drake, while he continued his education which landed him a job here at VT in January 2020 as an Assistant Professor in HNFE. ( Don't worry, we plan to stay here for a long time!) I am also a Boy Mom, culinary explorer....whether it be bread making, cheese eating, or enjoying a cup of tea.

During all of our moves I have been poured into by so many women through discipleship. Discipleship has been such a huge blessing and part of my personal relationship with God that I have jumped into helping lead here at Northstar.

If you have any questions about women's discipleship here at Northstar, please do not hesitate to reach out. I would love to go for a walk or sit down and talk over a hot beverage!
