Kings and Chronicles: 1 Chronicles 21:18-30
Jeff picks up where Darrell left off last week, and walks us through the rest of 1 Chronicles 21. We see David talking to a man named Ornan and see that he wants to purchase the land to build an altar and make sacrifices to end the plagues in Israel. Ornan refuses to be paid for it, and offers to David free of charge, but we see from David's response in verse 24, that David 'will not take for the Lord what is yours (Oranan's), nor offer burnt offerings that cost me nothing.' Jeff conveys that worship which costs us nothing is not Biblical worship but that 'true worship is always mindful of the cost of worship.' We (the church) are in danger of continually offering God worship that costs us nothing.
How have you made worship cost less in your life?
