New Member Spotlight: Ben & Sarah Price

February 22, 2019

We are excited to welcome the Prices to Northstar. Their excitement for Jesus and the church is contagious. After you learn a little more about them by reading over their spotlight be on the look out to welcome them before or after service on Sundays.

Tell the church little about yourself and  your family:

I was born and raised in Blacksburg.  I met my wife, Sarah, in third grade here in Blacksburg and we got married in 2008.  We have two children, Brooke (6 years old) and Brodie (3 years old).

What brought you to Blacksburg?

My folks moved up from Georgia right before I was born because my Dad had a job opportunity at Virginia Tech. Sarah moved from Hickory, North Carolina when she was seven years old. We both enjoyed the simplicity and natural beauty of growing up in Southwest Virginia. We feel blessed to raise our family here too.

Why are you excited about being the church with Northstar?

God has been calling us to Northstar for a couple of years now, and we are excited to follow our faith in joining the Northstar Family. We feel a lot of purpose and spiritual growth in working alongside our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ at Northstar. We pray our children will grow on their foundations and relationship with the Lord.

What is your favorite hobby?

My favorite hobby is being outside… lakes, mountains, fishing/boating, hiking, etc. My kids love to wrestle with me, do gymnastics, go to the pool and eat pancakes. Sarah loves to do yoga, shopping, spending time with family and going to the lake.

How would you rate Jeff on the humorous scale?

Jeff is very funny in his own way. I will admit I liked when he did the sermon a couple years ago and played a video clip of the final shot by Jimmy in the basketball movie Hoosiers. After the clip, Jeff yelled, “WOOOOOOOOOOOO!”  It was hilarious.

What is one of your favorite teachings of Jesus

My favorite teaching of Jesus is portrayed in John 15 when Jesus talks about the vine and the branches. This message is so powerful and significant for trusting in our relationship with Jesus.  This relationship allows our branches continue to bear fruit and be pruned as part of God’s plan.  While it is profound to read and think about this story in the Bible, it is even more incredible to experience it in the flesh. Praise be to God!

Sarah was recently baptized at Northstar, and you can hear her faith story here.
