Holiday Missions Offering 2025

December 3, 2025

Christmas is a season that invites us to reflect God’s heart through generosity. Every year, we celebrate His work by giving to our Holiday Missions Offering.

Your generosity toward missionaries, ministries, and partner organizations becomes a meaningful way to express our love for Christ and help His gospel reach people both near and far, starting right here in Blacksburg.

Jesus reminds us in Acts 1:8 that we are called to be His witnesses “in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” For us, that begins in Blacksburg, Christiansburg, Radford, and the surrounding areas. As God’s people, we start where we are and continue outward "to the ends of the earth."

100% of what we receive is given away. Here is the breakdown:

50% of it to our partner missions and ministries:
Campus Ministries:

  • VT Baptist Collegiate Ministry
  • VT Cru

Individuals - Northstar supports several members who are involved in ministry organizations.
Local ministries/agencies:

  • NRV Pregnancy Resource Center
  • Bradley Study Center
  • Montgomery County Foster agency

Missions Support:

  • Baptist General Association of Virginia
  • Southern Baptist Convention of Virginia
  • International Students Inc
  • Missionary giving
  • Short term trips

50% to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering (100% of that goes directly to overseas missionaries through the International Mission Board).

Practicals:

  • We ask that everyone who is a regular attender and member at Northstar prayerfully decide an amount that they would like to contribute and then give toward that goal each Sunday in December.
  • Make sure you put "HMO" in the memo line of your check.
  • If you’re giving online, select the “Holiday Missions Offering” on the fund option.
  • You can bring your money at any time between now and the end of December, but during our December Nights services, we will have a special offering in addition to our regular offering.
