Main Sessions will be led by Jeffery Buffkin, Baptist Collegiate Ministry campus pastor at William & Mary. He will focus on spiritual maturity and how that relates to our marriage relationships.
From Colossians 1:19-20 and 2:9-10, our completeness can only come from Christ. A spouse, no matter how magnificent, cannot complete us. Placing that expectation leads to disappointment and unmet expectations in marriage. Only by prayer and committing a spouse to Christ’s reconciling work can marriage take on the fulfillment God designed. Each couple will be encouraged to take some time to confess this truth and pray for one another. We will also explore oneness from Matthew 19 and how to strengthen love’s passion, intimacy, and commitment.
We finish with some meditation upon Ephesians 5:31-33, specifically the mystery of the marriage relationship, and the need to live with your spouse in an understanding way (1 Peter 3:7). We will explore the differences between male and female.
Breakout Session Topics Include:
Money: Budgeting and Spending Together
With money being one of the leading stressors in a marriage, it is crucial for couples to have a mutual understanding of how to handle money in their relationship. This seminar will take a look at how couples can improve communication regarding finances, better understand each other’s personality in regards to money, learn how to create and work a budget, and take a look at other important factors involved in finances and marriage!

The Meaning of Marriage
This session will mirror content from Tim and Kathy Keller’s book The Meaning of Marriage. We will borrow Scriptural insights, illustrations, and challenges from the Kellers as we reinforce these with some thoughts from our own marriage journey. You won’t get the entire book in this short session, but hopefully will have a lot of encouragement and challenge from some of their richest portions of wisdom and practical insights.
