Welcome back to a new feature on the Northstar blog where we take a moment to welcome and get to know some of our newest church members! In this post, we meet Morgan Wood!
Tell the church a little about yourself:
I’m from Yorktown, VA (like from the Revolutionary War… that’s my tagline I say anytime I say where I’m from), and all of my family lives there for the most part! Being so close to my family my entire life has given me a major appreciation for them and any time spent with them. I’m an only child, so it’s just me and my parents, who love any excuse to come to Blacksburg to visit, their main excuse being Hokie football 😉 After I graduate I want to go to grad school for Social Work, and living in Blacksburg and being involved in a service sorority here has given me a heart for that field. I’m excited to see where the Lord leads me with it!
What brought you to Blacksburg/Virginia Tech?
I was introduced to Virginia Tech because my cousin went here. It wasn’t my top choice in high school, but the Lord had different plans and I’m so glad he did! He has revealed Himself to me so much through my time at Virginia Tech.
Why are you excited about being the church with Northstar?
Northstar and the families here have been such an integral part of my college experience, as well as shaping who I am as a follower of Christ. I love “Don’t go, be” because it’s a biblically based charge to not keep Christianity limited to Sunday mornings. It’s meant to push us to reflect Christ in all we do every day of the week.
Tell us about your previous church and ways you were able to serve:
Liberty Baptist Church in Hampton, VA, has been my home church all my life. I was involved in a youth group as well as helping out with Vacation Bible School throughout high school.
We are so excited to welcome Morgan into our Northstar family! If you haven’t had a chance to meet her yet, be sure to look for her on Sunday morning!
