Grads & Professionals

Blacksburg is a college town, but there are  lots of graduate students and young professionals in the NRV that often go unnoticed. We believe this transitional phase of life is about more than just receiving (yet) another degree or adding another line to a resume.

We are a group of 20- and 30-somethings, somewhere between undergrad and married with children. The group is roughly half graduate students and half young professionals. Many of us are single, but we also have a mix of engaged and married couples.

Visit the Group Details page for more information on available small groups and what to expect.

Our Mission

What unites us is our mission to produce more and better disciples of Jesus Christ. Partnering with other Christians provides a source of mutual encouragement, admonition, and accountability.

Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom,
that we may present everyone mature in Christ.”   Colossians 1:28

Learn   Pray   Love

We want to encourage each other to respond in obedience to Biblical truths instead of just talking about them. We pray for each other because we know a God who answers prayers. We are intentional about building relationships because we are meant to live in community.

But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”   James 1:22

GAP <3’s Potlucks

Potlucks, bonfires, tailgates, game nights and hikes are all great excuses to get together. But more than just fellowship, these events are opportunities to invite our friends and coworkers into our community.

“By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”   John 13:35

Serve > Be Served

Not having kids and relatively more flexible schedules means that we can serve when and where others can’t. We have many gifted leaders and are blessed to be part of a church that encourages us to take on significant leadership in ministry. We strive to have the heart of Christ for those in need. Our current areas of focus are reaching out to international students and the problem of food access in the NRV. By partnering with other ministries we hope to share God’s love with those we serve and those we serve alongside.

For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve,
and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
Mark 10:44-45
