Meet Brooke Beyer, D28 Coordinator

News

We are excited about welcoming Brooke Beyer onto our staff in a volunteer capacity. Brooke will be leading the overall D28 ministry of Northstar. The D28 Discipleship Ministry is a five-month, group (3-4) discipleship process. Participants in D28 are challenged to grow in their love for God, understanding of the Scriptures, prayer life, ministry skills and much more.

beyersBrooke has been on the D28 leadership team for almost two years now, and will be stepping up to serve as the primary leader. Brooke was born in and lived most of his life in Overland Park, Kansas, a suburb of Kansas City. He attended Kansas State University, where he majored in accounting, and after graduating from college, worked in both public and private accounting. After twelve years in the corporate world, he decided to quit it all to pursue his dream job of being a college professor. He went back to school to get his Ph.D. in accounting, which he received in 2013 from Oklahoma State University.

Brooke met his wife, Sarah, when he was 15 years old and in their high school youth group. They dated on and off in high school and completely on in college, then married at the age of 22. The Beyers have since been blessed with six children, three the regular ol’ way and three through the fun of adoption: Anna, Leah, Faith, Julius, Cameron, and Lance.

The Beyer family moved to Blacksburg a few years ago when Brooke accepted an assistant professor position at Virginia Tech in the Pamplin College of Business. Brooke enjoys all sports, hiking, hanging out with his family, watching his girls play soccer, and chasing his sons.

One of Brooke’s greatest passions is to see people come to know Jesus and grow in their relationship with him. He loves to see men and women come to understand how much their Father in Heaven truly loves and adores them. His own journey of discovering God’s grace has changed everything for him, his marriage and his family and sent them all on an adventure of following Jesus. He is looking forward to being a part of helping others at Northstar pursue that same adventure in their own lives.
