“Return to your home, and declare how much God has done for you.” And he went away, proclaiming throughout the whole city how much Jesus had done for him. – Luke 8:39
At our most recent member meeting, Jeff wrapped things up by sharing a desire that we have as a church: for everyone to, at some point, share their story. He said this could be done in any way. You can stand in front of the congregation and tell your story from the stage on Sunday morning. You can write it down and share it as a blog post on our website. You can let us record you on video and share it via YouTube and social media. You can even write a song and sing your story.
Yes, having all of our members share their stories with one another is a desire of Northstar Church. But it is understandable that, for many, this is an incredibly intimidating prospect.
The “what ifs” might begin to creep in for you… What if my voice is shaky? What if my outfit doesn’t look good on video? What if I don’t use the right words? And then there’s the big one… What if my story just isn’t good enough?
Here is a helpful hint: Your story is ALWAYS good enough.
Do you know why your story is always good enough? Because Jesus. That’s why. If you are a believer… a Christ follower… at some point in your life, Jesus stepped in. That means He completely changed your life for the better. Does it mean that things suddenly got easier and life became a walk in the park? Absolutely not. But it does mean that He is working in your life in a uniquely powerful way.
The way Jesus works in you is different than the way He works in others. That makes your story unique.
When you decided to open your heart and place Him on the throne of your life, you made a U-turn. You were on a path that led to destruction. To hell. And now you’re on a path that leads to life. To Heaven. That makes your story powerful.
Whatever circumstances you find yourself in, no matter your stage in life, Jesus is at work in you. That makes your story amazing!
So, Northstar Family, it isn’t a question of if you have a story to tell. It’s when will you tell it? We want to help you! Do you want to be the next member to share your story? Get in touch with Neal Nelson or Matt Simpson! They will help you frame your story and work with you so it can be shared effectively… on stage, in a blog, through a video, or even set to music.
My mouth will tell of your righteous acts, of your deeds of salvation all the day, for their number is past my knowledge. With the mighty deeds of the Lord God I will come; I will remind them of your righteousness, yours alone. O God, from my youth you have taught me, and I still proclaim your wondrous deeds. So even to old age and gray hairs, O God, do not forsake me, until I proclaim your might to another generation, your power to all those to come. – Psalm 71:15-18
