Northstar Church: March, 2011
God’s Greatness
Tucker King preaches on the greatness and bigness of God. In portraying God’s grandeur, we are compelled to reflect on all of our inadequate understandings of who God is and how He works.

PRC announces annual Walk for Life

The Pregnancy Resource Center of the NRV annual Walk for Life is April 30. It is one of the excellent ministries that Northstar supports. We encourage you to participate individually, as small groups or with a team from your work or campus.
2nd annual volunteer dinner, April 15

Northstar depends on the gracious ministry of our volunteers. Last year we began a fun-filled night of celebration in which we bragged, doted and made much of the wonderful people who help serve and bring glory to the Lord by their contributions.
This year, the event will be at the Blacksburg Rec Center at 7:00 p.m. You can register for the event by going here. The theme is “True Grit” so come dressed in your best western garb! What to expect: laughs, craziness, fun videos and a great meal!
Ordination for Tucker King this week!

We hope that this Sunday is the start of something special at Northstar as we will recognize the clear call of God on Tucker King’s life into ministry by ordaining him. Britt Boone from the Upstream Collective, will be back with us this week and preaching both services.
The actual ordination with laying on of hands will take place during the 9:00 service. In both services, you’ll have an opportunity to hear Tucker’s faith story. We hope you’ll make plans to be a part of the 9:00 service this week.
As we continue to be a discipling church, we earnestly hope to also be a calling church. It will be exciting in the months and years to come to see all those that God calls to ministry through Northstar! Let’s thank the Lord for how He continues to extend His kingdom through our humble fellowship!
Music and coffee night… March 28

It’s our 2nd monthly Coffee and Music Night! Join us for a laid-back evening of acoustic music and coffee at Lucie Monroe’s Coffee Co. in Christiansburg. This is a great event to invite your friends to so that they can meet and fellowship with some of the Northstar family.
Why Go to Church?
Special guest Michael Kelley shares from Ephesians 2-3 about the purpose of the church and our role in it.

Passion week at Northstar!

Passion Week 2011 is wonderful time to refresh our hearts in what God has done for us in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We are planning three special opportunities for you and for those guests that you invite to Northstar on those days.
- Join us for Palm Sunday on April 17 at the Blacksburg High School for an exciting time of worship! We have two opportunities at 9:00 & 11:00 a.m. Our 9:00 service will have a full slate of Children’s Ministries, while our 11:00 service will have a nursery available for you.
- Friday, April 22 is Good Friday, and we will be meeting at the War Memorial Chapel for a somber but hopeful service reflecting on what Jesus did for all of humanity. Join us at 6:30 p.m. Childcare for children 5 and under is available at the Lancaster House (403 Washington Street).
- Easter Sunday is April 24, and we want to invite you to come experience our worship services as we celebrate that we don’t serve a dead and buried god, but a living and reigning King! Just like Palm Sunday, we will have two services with full Children’s Ministries at the 9:00 am service and a nursery available to you at the 11:00 am service.
Michael Kelley to speak in both services March 20
We are excited to have Michael Kelley as a special guest this Sunday, March 20 in both the 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. services at Northstar. He will also be sharing with the GLAD Missions Group Sunday evening.
